Karma Hall received a B.A. in Philosophy, with a minor in Criminal Justice, from Florida International University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She received her J.D. from the Florida State University School of Law in May of 2004. She is a five-time Dean's List awardee. She won the William W. Corry Book Award in Trial Practice in 2003, the “I Am Woman” Award in 2002, and the Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Philosophy in 2001. Academic memberships include: Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Sigma Tau, and Golden Key National Honor Society. Ms. Hall is affiliated with the American Bar Association; Broward County Bar Association; and the Trial Lawyer and Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Sections of the Florida Bar.
Ms. Hall's professional experience began at the Office of the Public Defender, Second Circuit, where she provided extensive research on the scientific methods involved in creating actuarial instruments used to determine likelihood of recidivism of sexual offenders in Jimmy Ryce Act civil commitment proceedings. She completed certified externships at the Children's Advocacy Center, which focused on family law, and at the Office of the Attorney General, State of Florida, in the administrative law division. While at the Office of the Attorney General, Ms. Hall worked in the medical licensing and disciplinary division, where she presented argument before the Division of Administrative Hearings, and assisted in providing legal services involving litigation and rulemaking to the Florida Board of Medicine, the Florida Board of Nursing, and various other medical boards.
Prior to joining Rubinton & Laufer, Ms. Hall was an associate at the law firm of Purdy, Jolly, Guiffreda & Barranco, P.A., where she represented sheriff's offices and municipalities throughout Florida, as well as insurance and corporate clients. In that capacity, she worked on a number of high-profile cases, particularly in the areas of complex civil litigation and civil rights. Ms. Hall's experience includes trial and appellate litigation at both the state and federal levels.
Ms. Hall's practice at Rubinton and Laufer is in the areas of commercial and civil litigation, as well as insurance defense. She is admitted to all Florida State Courts, the U.S District Court (Southern, Middle, Northern Districts of Florida), and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit.
